En de winst is met 90% gestegen door de verkoop van een aantal bedrijven. Zonder dat was de stijging 11%, nog steeds prima!

Foster's Group, the Australian alcoholic beverage giant, said profit rose 90% during its first six months to December 31, 2006, as a result of divesting breweries and increased beer sales in the Asia-Pacific region.
Foster's reported profit of A$553.5 million ($435 million) from the A$291 million recorded in the previous year's first half. The Australian company's sale of breweries in India and Vietnam boosted profit massively, as without these exceptional items, profit rose 11% to A$363 million ($286 million).
AdvertisementThe beverage giant, which produces the Foster's lager and Wolfblass wines, reported a 3.5% increase in net sales to $2.4 billion. Foster's said its top 10 brands grew almost 6% in the first half, with the Americas and European businesses returning to strong growth.
Foster's said the Asia-Pacific region added significantly to its first half earnings as beer sales rise, and this region, together with Australia, accounted for almost three quarters of the company's earnings in the first half.
Foster's CEO, Trevor O'Hoy, said: "Sustained brand investment, improving route-to-market models and operating efficiencies will drive accelerating earnings growth in the second half, and for the full year.
"Announced asset sales programs are progressing well with the sale of Pallhuber completed during the period, and the disposal of the remaining Wine Clubs and Services businesses expected this financial year," added Mr O'Hoy.
